Persistent Acid Reflux

Acid reflux has many affects on the body and is especially detrimental to young kids. It can affect nursing, eating habits, and even delay speech & language. Further more, new research underscores the importance of preventing recurring acid reflux while discovering clues on how typical acid reflux can turn cancerous. Commonly called "heartburn"; it occurs when acid splashes up from the stomach in the esophagus & sometimes gets into the trachea & mouth. Many times it goes undetected. Over time, the persistent acid can cause normal cells in the esophagus to change in to acid-resistant cells, causing Barrett's esophagus. These acid resistant cells are more prone to cancer. This is the most rapidly rising cancer in the US. Talk to your doctor about managing you & your kid's acid reflux.
