How to Get Started with Peak Potential Therapy?
You know your child may need additional support. The harder question is often what to do next.
Whether you are looking for ABA therapy, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, or coordinated autism services in Northeast Ohio, Peak Potential Therapy makes the process of getting started as straightforward as possible.
Some families come to us with an existing diagnosis, evaluation, IEP, or treatment history. Others are just beginning to recognize that their child may be struggling with communication, behavior, sensory regulation, daily living skills, social interaction, or development.
You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting us.
Our team can help you understand what services may be appropriate, what information we need, and what the next step should be for your child.
Step 1: Start With a Conversation
The first step is to contact Peak Potential Therapy and tell us a little about your child and what you are seeing.
We will ask about your concerns, your child’s developmental and treatment history, any existing diagnoses or evaluations, the services you are interested in, and your insurance or other funding source.
This initial conversation helps us determine which Peak services may be appropriate and what needs to happen next.
If your child already has evaluations, treatment plans, an IEP, Autism Scholarship documentation, or other relevant records, we may ask you to provide them so our team can better understand your child’s needs.
Step 2: Evaluation or Clinical Assessment
Not every child starts in the same place.
If your child already has a recent evaluation that provides the information necessary to begin services, we may be able to use that documentation as part of the intake process.
If additional assessment is needed, our clinicians will evaluate the areas relevant to the service being considered.
Depending on your child’s needs, this may include assessment of:
- communication and language;
- behavior and learning;
- social skills;
- sensory processing;
- fine-motor and functional skills;
- independence and daily living skills; or
- other developmental areas.
The purpose is not simply to produce a score.
We want to understand your child’s strengths, needs, barriers, and opportunities for meaningful progress so we can determine whether treatment is appropriate and where to begin.
Step 3: Build an Individualized Treatment Plan
If services are recommended, our clinicians develop an individualized treatment plan with input from the family.
Goals are based on your child’s specific needs and the skills that can make a meaningful difference in everyday life.
Depending on the child, that may include improving communication, increasing independence, developing social skills, supporting emotional or behavioral regulation, strengthening daily living skills, or reducing barriers that interfere with learning and participation.
And because Peak provides ABA, speech-language therapy, and occupational therapy within one multidisciplinary organization, children who need support across more than one area may benefit from clinicians who can communicate and coordinate rather than working in separate silos.
Not every child needs every service.
Our goal is to identify the right services for your child and build a program around those needs.
Why Families Choose Peak Potential Therapy
Finding a therapist is only part of the decision.
Families also need a provider they can trust to understand the larger picture.
Peak Potential Therapy serves children and families throughout Northeast Ohio with a multidisciplinary approach to pediatric therapy. Our services include Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral support, and related developmental and educational services.
For families whose children need multiple forms of support, Peak can provide something especially valuable:
One primary provider. Multiple disciplines. One coordinated plan.
That can mean fewer handoffs between organizations, better communication among clinicians, more consistent strategies, and a team that understands your child beyond a single therapy session.
You Don’t Have to Know Which Therapy Your Child Needs
Parents frequently contact us knowing that something is difficult for their child but not knowing whether the answer is ABA, speech therapy, occupational therapy, or another form of support.
That is okay.
You do not need to diagnose the problem or select the treatment before calling us.
Tell us what you are seeing.
Our team can help determine the appropriate next step.
